I've heard about how amazing Porto's Bakery is for so long, but I never got a chance to try it in person. One of my closest friends gifted some, and these delicious treats made my day.
Porto's Bakery is founded by Rosa Porto, a Cuban immigrant with exceptional baking skills. Using family recipes from the Galicia region of Spain, Rosa and her family first opened the famous Porto's Bakery in Echo Park, California.

Decades later, the bakery has 6 locations in California, and it is more popular than ever.
The newest location in Northridge opened on April 12, 2022.
Porto's has a wide selection of Cuban pastries, croquettes and cakes, and people line up to buy them. My friend got me the Mango Mousse Bombs and Napoleon Slices, and she told me they were her favorites.
The Mango Mousse Bomb is the ultimate post-meal indulgence.
Porto's Bakery
Porto's signature mango mousse sits on a thin layer of Rosa's original sponge cake with passion fruit crémeux. It is finished with mango glaze, finely shredded coconut and then topped off with a piece of white chocolate.
They look and taste amazing. There was a dallop of milk chocolate on the bottom which made the experience even sweeter. The citrusy and fruity mango mousse is so refreshing after a meal. It would make great desserts when I'm entertaining - a perfect palate cleanser.

And these Napoleon Slices are one of the best pastries I've had in a long time. If you're a custard lover, you will love these.
The Napoleon Slice is a traditional puff pastry made with European-style butter layered with vanilla custard. The pastry isn't as sweet as it looks, so you can appreciate the rich custard flavor.
The pastry crumbs is topped with powdered sugar, and it's so buttery smooth.

Porto's offers nationwide shipping on select items, and you can bake them at home.
Porto's Bakery
The Ham Croquette is one of Porto's bestselling items, and you can order them by dozens. You can bake the frozen croquettes at home, and I heard they taste the same, if you bake them per heating instructions.
Each Bake at Home menu comes with detailed baking instructions. These Ham Croquettes are made with bechamel, smoked ham, parsley, and Spanish seasonings, and they make hearty and filling appetizers.
Porto's Bakery
I'm going to be ordering the "Porto's Favorites Bundle" next time. It includes a bundle of Porto's bestsellers - Cheese Roll, Potato Ball, Chicken Empanada, and Refugiado (Guava and Cheese Strudel).

Not all items qualify for nationwide shipping, so if you want to try the whole selection, you'll have to visit a location. I'm bummbed both the Napoleon Slices and Mango Mousse Bombs are not available online. The closest location is quite a driving distance, but it'll be worth the extra driving. My friend was saying you could pick anything and you would love anything. Can't wait to visit Porto's in person.
