I did a ton of research before making big baby purchases like a crib, car seat, or appliances, and most of the time, there were clear pros and cons, making the decisions easy. Choosing a stroller, though, was so challenging! It seemed like I needed to decide between stability and portability.
For newborns and up to a year, you are advised to purchase a full-size stroller as it provides more stability and support. Full-size strollers, however, tend to be much heavier than compact strollers, so a lot of postpartum moms struggle with loading and unloading them.
And then I discovered Silver Cross' Dune Compact City Stroller. It was lighter than the Reef, a full-size stroller from the same brand. I was particularly impressed with how it did not sacrifice stability, even with the lighter weight.

The Dune Stroller is known for its excellent suspension; therefore, it provides maximum comfort and support. William Wilson's innovative spring system is still being used as Silver Cross' suspension. I test-drove other popular strollers like Stokke Xplory or Mima Xari Max; however, none provided as much support as the Dune.
Dune is a compact stroller that is equipped with all the full-size strollers have to offer.
Dune's four-wheel suspension takes this stroller to a completely new level. It is reliable on pavement, parks, or bumpy city roads.
The Dune is available in 3 fabric options, and the chassis matches the fabric option. You can choose from Space (gray), Glacier (black), and Stone (golden beige). I fell in love with the Stone color, but apparently, everybody liked that color as well because I had to wait months to get it delivered!
The fully-assembled stroller weighs 25.3 lbs. Because the stroller seat comes apart easily from the chassis, if your postpartum wrists are still on the mend, you can load the chassis and stroller seat separately, reducing the total weight.
This is the chassis without the stroller seat. The beautiful champagne-colored chassis is a sight to be hold! I love this color - it's so luxurious and unique. It is so worth the wait.
You can lock the stroller wheels by stepping onto the lock on the back of the stroller. It locks the rear wheels. If you want to lock the front wheels (in case you want to walk straight), you may do so manually on each front wheel.
The handlebar is a rich saddle brown color. Can a stroller be this gorgeous and luxurious? It's nicer than my car, haha.
Silver Cross uses a convenient magnetic closure for its harnesses, and it is a lot more convenient than you might think.
The seat pops out easily, so you can change the direction the baby faces.
By pressing the side buttons shown above, you can remove the seat from the chassis. Press both buttons on the sides and pull the seat straight up.
You can also have the baby face you like this.

If you plan on going out with a newborn (~3 months or so), I highly suggest purchasing a Compact Folding Bassinet as well.
I didn't order the bassinet at first, thinking that I wouldn't; need it, so I couldn't get the matching Stone color. It was completely sold out when I came home with the baby, so I had to settle for the Earth color, which matches with the Reef Stroller, the full-size stroller.
I couldn't wait for months once the baby was born because by then, he wouldn't be needing it anymore. But I love the color! It's a rich brown color that goes well with the Stone chassis.
This is the bassinet in the Stone finish.
It matches the Stone color Dune chassis, so if you want the matching color, you should order yours way before your due date!
The First Bed Bassinet is compatible with both Dune and Reef strollers.
If you plan on carrying the baby around the house while he's sleeping or walking him around the block, order the bassinet! The baby's too small to be sitting in the stroller, and putting him in the bassinet will free your hands!
The hood folds down flat, so you can see the baby when you're indoors.
Silver Cross' First Bed Folding Bassinet is overnight sleeping approved, so you can let your baby sleep in here all night - so convenient when you're visiting your parents, for instance. I let my baby take naps in this bassinet during the day, so I don't have to go check on him every 5 minutes in his nursery.
And the bassinet itself can be folded down to maximize storage efficiency when it's not in use. Many other stroller brands have bassinets as add-on accessories; however, theirs aren't as design-forward and thought-out as this one.
When the hood is fully up, it reveals the luxurious Silver Cross logo and emblem. The hood is made of UPF 50+ fabric.

You can adjust the airflow by turning the vents on the bottom of the bassinet.
You can take the bassinet out of the chassis by pressing the button at the top of the canopy and pulling it straight up. This is how you unfold the bassinet, as well.
The bassinet has a removable cover with zippers, so the baby stays warm and is protected from harsh weather.
The only complaint I have about Silver Cross strollers and their accessories is that the instruction manuals aren't very helpful. They have some videos, which are much more comprehensive and easier to understand, but they're hard to find. But the designs are intuitive enough for me to operate the stroller even without the manuals, so there's that. Besides that, I can't think of a better compact stroller that accommodates the newborn phase as well. I can't wait to transition to the stroller seat and go on trips!
