The Wooden Dolls by Alexander Girard are a collection of extraordinary wooden figures that deserve attention.

I've seen people passionately collecting these dolls.

Girard designed them in 1952, so he could use them as decorative objects in his house. The dolls represent various animals and human characters, and each is hand-painted.

His inspiration was drawn from his passion for textile design, and the folk art of South America, Asia, and Eastern Europe. He said, "I find that those of my designs which satisfy me personally are the only ones worth producing", and I couldn't agree more.

These wooden dolls are made of solid fir and represent the classic Alexander Girard designs.

The shapes of the dolls and the painted colors exude ethnic vibes - truly one of a kind.

The wooden dolls are named from one to twenty-two, except for the Little Devil and the Mother Fish & Child.

This is the Little Devil.

Because it is hand-painted, there can be a slight color variation. The tail is a nice touch.

This is the Mother Fish&Child. Sold as a set, they look great on top of a coffee table book.

The figures add a whimsical and personal touch to any space - on a display shelf, home bar, side table, or even a bookshelf.

I've seen people starting out with one wooden doll, falling in love, and then adding more dolls to their collection.

The Wooden Doll No.1 is my favorite.

Each doll comes in a wooden storage box with a certificate of authenticity.

They are infinitely beautiful, and the pops of color add warmth and inspiration to any space.
