This Italian-made corkscrew has been popular since its introduction in 1994.

Over 20 years, Alessi’s Anna G. Corkscrew has been a great gift idea and an entertainer’s must-have wine accessory. I’ve been eyeing this for years, and when my old corkscrew finally rusted, I purchased it without giving it a second thought.

I’ve always wanted the black corkscrew (combined with the chrome hardware, it is so chic!), so choosing the color was easy peasy. But it comes in a range of bright colors and a few limited-edition shades like Red or Chrome.

And there are some limited-edition corkscrews with beautifully decorated heads.

I don’t know how functional these are going to be, but they’re for sure gorgeous!

Alessandro Mendini, the brilliant artist who designed the corkscrew, was inspired by his childhood friend, Anna.

The corkscrew Anna’s arms rise when you twist the head. When the arms are raised and the corkscrew is fully inserted into the cork, you can simply lower the arms to release the cork from the bottle.

The corkscrew has a solid construction and doesn’t feel flimsy like some lower-end corkscrews you’d find at a dollar store. But of course, considering the $70 price tag, the sturdy construction is to be expected.

The corkscrew is 9.75” high and is pretty large (larger than the old corkscrew I used to have), but it is such a pretty piece that works as a functional bar cart accessory.

It can stand alone on a flat surface, so you can showcase it in the kitchen, bar, or living room – anywhere you’d drink wine!

So happy my old corkscrew rusted!
