I’ve searched high and low for a sleek, minimalistic, and stylish trash bin for months!

Many people love and recommend Simplehuman trash cans as their streamlined design, custom liners, and added features, including voice control, are all the functional features a trash bin needs. I’ll be honest with you - I debated between a Simplehuman dual trash can and Brabantia’s Bo Touch Bin until the very last minute because they equally possessed such great qualities. I ultimately bought the Bo Touch Bin because of its design, and I love it every time I use it.

I mean, look at this trash can!

Everyone who visits my house asks me where the trash can is when he or she is literally standing right in front of it because it looks nothing like a trash can. Yup, that was exactly what I was going for. I want my trash can to be out in the open, so I can access it easily, but I don’t want it to scream, “I’m a dumpster, sitting next to a TV or a dining table”. Once I told the guests or family members that this was a trash can, they commented how sleek this trash can was, haha. I’m getting excited about a trash can - WOW, I am getting old.

Anyway, Brabantia’s Bo Touch Bin is available in several colors and sizes.

I thought about going a size larger (it is longer vertically), but reaching for the can was a little awkward due to its height. And the colors! I LOVED every single color Brabantia offered. The retro red or vivid yellow (mustard-like color) was so fun and would sure make interesting statement pieces. Since I’m terrified to step outside of my comfort zone, I went with all black, of course.

Another really cool thing about the Bo Touch Bin is that the inner buckets are customizable. You can either have 1 large inner bucket, 2 divided buckets (one small and the other large), or 3 equally-divided buckets. Not all Brabantia retailers carry all varieties, so be sure to check the specifications before placing an order. I believe the dual-bucket configuration is the most common in the US market (one for recycling and the other for trash).

The trash can is supported by 4 thin (but strong!) legs. The elevated trash can visually makes the can look lighter and more airy. And it makes vacuuming underneath super easy. The legs also elevate the trash can to the perfect height where you can reach for the can without bending over.

Because this trash can isn’t a step can, having the right height is very much appreciated.

The lid swings open when you gently press down the lid. The mechanism is so smooth and natural. No squeaky noise or discomfort. Hence, the “Touch Bin”.

You’ll need to press the lid down to close it. It needs to be pressed down until you hear the “click”.

It is definitely not as automatic or smart as Simplehuman Sensor cans; however, I don’t find it annoying or anything like that. I do think the Sensor Cans are better suited for kitchens or other highly contaminated areas, but I use this trash bin near the living room where my family members throw out empty beverage cans or light snack wrappers, so the Touch Bin is working out great.

Just like Simplehuman, Brabantia sells custom trash bags that fit each bin perfectly. They are slightly thinner than the Simplehuman bags.

If you're looking for a trash can that is anything but ordinary, check out Brabantia's Bo Touch Bin. It's unique and extraordinary in aesthetics and design!
