Ssamziegil is a popular shopping complex located in the Insadong district of Seoul, South Korea. It is known for its unique architectural design and vibrant atmosphere, making it a favorite destination for both locals and tourists.
From the moment we stepped into Ssamziegil, we were greeted by its unique architectural design—a spiraling walkway that winds its way up four floors, each level teeming with delightful shops and artisan stalls. The open-air concept allowed us to bask in the lively atmosphere while exploring an array of handcrafted goods, traditional souvenirs, and contemporary art pieces.
One of the most enjoyable aspects of Ssamziegil was the sheer variety of artisanal products. We found ourselves mesmerized by the intricate hanji (Korean paper) crafts, beautiful pottery, handpainted fans, and other various accessories.
Each shop seemed to tell its own story, showcasing the immense talent and creativity of Korean artisans.
No visit to Ssamziegil would be complete without indulging in some traditional Korean treats. From savory beef jerky to fragrant fruit jellies, the choices were endless.

We savored hangwa, a Korean traditional snack—an absolute must-try!

The complex also features fun stores for you to shop Korean souvenirs or gifts.
This store sells Korean traditional brushes that were used as writing instruments.
We were tempted to pick up a brush or two, but instead, we decided to get something more functional and useful. We'll do a separate post on what we ended up getting.
