Thoughts on Drunk Elephant's B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum
Extra Details:
For those who've used Drunk Elephant's B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum, do you like the serum? Does it do what it claims to do - provides "intense" hydration? I live in a dry and arid area, and it's been hard finding a hydrating serum that doesn't break me out while keeping me hydrated overnight.
I worship Drunk Elephant products – the fantastic quality, super cute packaging, and the whole kaboom. No wonder they’re Sephora’s bestsellers.
I have normal skin that gets dehydrated in colder months. When seasons change, I feel it with my skin – as soon as Labor Day has passed, my skin feels tighter, and I spend a longer time fixing my makeup. I’ve done all sorts of things – drinking water, home facial treatments, facial mist, etc. Drinking water helps, but I don’t want to drink gallons of water, especially when I know that I’m going to be stuck in traffic. And facial masks work great, but my skin goes back to its dehydrated self after a few hours. And I find applying facial mist is not as effective as it claims. I felt like it dried my skin even more. And then I met the B-Hydra serum.
There are a ton of new skincare products popping out every day, so I approached this with skepticism. How could it possibly be? Some kind of watery serum, I guess. That’s what I thought when I received a deluxe sample of it. I used it along with my regular moisturizers, and before I knew it, I was ordering the full size.
My skin’s chronic tightness had disappeared, and I felt comfortable all day long. No tightness, no flaking around my lips, and most importantly, a glowy complexion!!!! My skin was glowing as if I was using a filter. Ok. I’m sold.
I may be a bit premature to say this, but this is a holy grail serum for me. I’m now an avid user of most Drunk Elephant products, and I’m loving the way my skin feels and looks.
The only downside I can think of is its price; however, I can justify it for those who’re on the verge of purchasing but are hesitant because of the price. This serum has a magical ability to transform any drugstore moisturizer into something better and more potent. The B-Hydra serum’s molecule sizes are designed to retain the moisture of other moisturizers, helping them realize their full moisturizing potential.
I hope Drunk Elephant comes up with a jumbo size – I’ll buy it instantly!
According to the leaflet, “Like a cool drink of water for your thirsty skin, this ultra-hydrating serum replenishes the complexion and improves the look of skin texture and tone”.
The serum is formulated with pro-vitamin B5 and pineapple ceramide, it delivers steady hydration throughout the day. I notice the difference right away when I skip this serum. Because I have dry skin, I apply another moisturizer on top of this serum. On the days I skip the serum, my skin gets dry much faster. I think of it as a primer that holds skin moisture in and keeps other moisturizers together.
You’ll feel the difference instantly. At least I felt the difference immediately. As soon as I put on the serum, my skin felt so smooth and plump!
The serum contains sodium hyaluronate for its superior moisture-retaining properties. When paired with other hydrating moisturizers, I believe it realizes its maximum potential because it retains moisture from other products as well, keeping your skin moisturized longer. And that was exactly how I felt when I added it to my skincare regimen.
Drunk Elephant makes phenomenal products, and among them, this serum is a lifesaver. If you have constantly dry skin, sample it – you’ll know what I mean.
I love this serum so much. I hope Drunk Elephant doesn’t discontinue this.
As the name suggests, it’s not a standalone moisturizer. It’s a serum that is supposed to be used together with other moisturizers to boost maximum hydration.
Drunk Elephant recommends using it under your regular moisturizer or vitamin C serums to keep your skin hydrated and dewy.
It gives my skin an instant boost of hydration, unlike other hydrating serums that don’t live up to their claims. Ever since I incorporated this serum into my skincare routine, my skin doesn’t know what dry skin feels like anymore, and as a result of that high moisture retention, my skin feels supple and healthy. And supple cheeks mean younger-looking skin! Maybe this is what Koreans use to keep their skin porcelain clear and plump.
Because Drunk Elephant products are on the pricier end, I rotate their products between morning and night, so they last longer. However, the B-Hydra™ is one thing that I apply both morning and night because I simply cannot live without it. In the morning, it helps my makeup go on smoothly and keeps my skin hydrated no matter how dry the weather is or how stressful the work gets. And at night, it helps all my night care treatments to really sink in, so they don’t go to waste unabsorbed.
It is such a great layering serum that has become an indispensable part of my skincare routine.
