Draft lattes are La Colombe’s signature coffee. They are found in various grocery stores like Whole Foods, Target, or Trader Joe’s, and they’re insanely popular for their rich coffee flavor and thick foam.
I usually drink Triple Draft Lattes from La Colombe, as they render an amazingly smooth flavor but pack a punch of caffeine. La Colombe has announced its Seasonal Batch, so I had to give the new flavor a try. I couldn’t find the flavor at my local grocery store, so I hesitantly ordered it online through La Colombe’s website. I normally don’t shy away from ordering online, but I wasn’t sure if the draft lattes would arrive well because thick and smooth foam is everything when it comes to draft lattes. I once ordered La Colombe’s Mocha Draft Lattes from Amazon, and I hated how they arrived. Although the cans weren’t visibly damaged, the foam was almost nonexistent. I’m guessing these cans were moving around and shaking constantly during transit, and therefore La Colombe’s signature nitrous-infused milk foam had gotten flat.
On the other hand, La Colombe has packed its draft latte so securely and my pumpkin spice lattes arrived safely! I was really impressed with the way they packaged the cans in the cardboard box to minimize any movement.
The flavor leaflet was included in the packaging.
La Colombe’s Pumpkin Spice Draft Latte is “made with cold-pressed Nizza espresso blended with real pumpkin puree from this year’s pumpkin harvest and warming spices that have a fraction of the sugar offered in a traditional PSL and even more caffeine per volume”.
In my opinion, LA Colombe’s Pumpkin Spice Draft Latte is better than that from Starbucks. I used to frequent Starbucks for their seasonal flavors like Pumpkin Spice Latte or Peppermint Mocha, but this draft latte is so much smoother and full-flavored. One thing I can say confidently about La Colombe’s draft lattes is that they are super smooth and creamy without too much fat or sugar.
Each can is only 100 calories, and you can find the full list of ingredients and nutritional chart here.
I’m honestly not a huge fan of Starbucks coffee in general, but this Nitro Cold Brew is amazing. I always get Nitro Cold Brew every time I go to a drive-thru Starbucks, and it’s the best-tasting coffee!
Just like most cold brew coffees, this has a very smooth taste with low acidity, so it’s great for those with sensitive stomachs like me. I start my day with a black coffee, and I tend to eat very light in the morning, so cold brews agree with me.
They also have other flavors like Dark Caramel and Vanilla Sweet Cream; however, I most definitely recommend the original Black Unsweetened. I believe the unsweetened variety really accentuates the smooth flavor of cold brew coffee. And you can also watch your sugar intake.
Yes, for canned coffee, the price is quite high, but not as high as other canned cold brews from “artisan” coffee roasters like La Colombe or Blue Bottle Coffee. I also think Blue Bottle’s coffees taste way too acidic.
Ok. A little tip about enjoying nitro coffee the right way. You need to “activate” nitro before drinking by tilting the can once. And make sure to pour the can into a glass or a mug. It really makes a huge difference!
