What shampoo and conditioner are you using currently?
I have color-treated hair that feels brittle and dry. I've been using Aveda's shampoo and conditioner, and they don't feel as effective as before these days.
MoroccanOil Extra Volume Shampoo and Hydrating Conditioner
I must’ve used every high-end hair product in the market, trying to find the shampoo/conditioner combo that works for my hair. I have long, fine, straight hair that isn’t color-treated. Many haircare brands offer 2-minute surveys, so you can find out the right product for your hair type and concerns. Although they can certainly provide some pointers and a starting point, I find them to be superficial and shallow. I believe, just like your skin, haircare needs change frequently depending on the seasons, conditions, occasions, and desired hairstyles. So I don’t insist on using certain products for my hair (especially styling products); however, I really like these for my daily shower and wanted to share these with you.
I love the way MoroccanOil smells. Sisley’s shampoos have the most heavenly and sophisticated scent; however, MoroccanOil comes at a close second. I got my hair shampooed at a salon with MoroccanOil products, and I found myself constantly sniffing my hair the whole day because it smelled so amazing. I don’t think the scent belongs in typical scent groups like floral, citrus, or spices, and honestly, I can’t really describe what the scent is, but it’s the bomb. It smells so good and lasts forever. When I was my hair with MoroccanOil products and finish it off with a drop or two of MoroccanOil Treatment (the most well-known bestseller of MoroccanOil), the scent literally lasts until my next wash.
Most people use matching shampoo and conditioner, but I beg to differ. If you have fine and straight hair, your hair can always use volumizing shampoo. Unless you have an extra-dry or sensitive scalp that doesn’t agree well with volumizing shampoo, I highly recommend MoroccanOil’s Extra Volume Shampoo. It visibly lifts up my roots and makes styling so much more manageable and easier. All I need is a roller brush, and I can easily achieve a glamorous blowout.
The Extra Volume Shampoo is not as drying as other volume shampoos on the market and doesn’t cause my hair to feel overly stiff. It lathers incredibly well and gets my hair so clean and fresh without overdrawing.
My fair hair tends to lose volume and gets weighed down whenever I use richer shampoos. I rarely use repair shampoos or other “hydrating” shampoos as they tend to make my scalp oily.
But! I specifically look for ultra-hydrating or restructuring conditioners because they are not meant for the scalp. I get awful split ends if I don’t “moisturize” my hair enough, and matchy-matchy volumizing conditioner rarely keeps my hair soft and moisturized. I’ve used several conditioners from MoroccanOil, but my favorite is the Hydrating Conditioner. It provides the perfect amount of moisture, so it’s suitable for daily use. I would go for hair masks or other specialized treatments if I feel like my hair needs some TLC, but for daily washing, this Hydrating Conditioner is hands down the best.
I am so happy I’ve found this shampoo and conditioner duo from OUAI. I received travel-sized samples of them when I was purchasing other OUAI products, which by the way, are the best of the best. I was mainly using OUAI’s highly-rated styling products, but the reviews for the shampoo and conditioner were hard to find. After using them for a week, I just placed an order for both. I love them.
They are meant to repair and reconstruct damaged hair from frequent chemical treatments, colors, and sun damage. I have pretty beat-up hair that gets tangled up and unmanageable when wet. The REPAIR line of products noticeably improved my hair, and I can safely finger-comb my hair even when it’s wet. No more tugging, pulling, and screaming.
The shampoo cleans hair without drying it out, and my hair doesn’t feel “stiff”. I do not like the smell of this shampoo, though. The musky smell reminds me of an old man’s cologne, but I really do like the product, so I’m willing to overlook that. The conditioner has the same smell, but the good news is that it doesn’t stay on my hair and linger.
The conditioner is rich and thick. It applies buttery smooth and conditions my hair intensively. It is only a conditioner; however, it feels and applies like an expensive hair treatment, and my hair gets so soft and luscious.
One of the notable issues with repair shampoos/conditioners is that they tend to weigh hair down. They are deeply nourishing but not greasy and heavy. With a bit of texturizing spray (or volumizing spray, depending on how you style your hair), my hair does not lose its body and volume.
The REPAIR Shampoo and Conditioner take my hair to the next level.
