Slice's Manual Carton Cutter is great for cutting cardboard boxes. I own several because I keep forgetting to put them back where they belong, haha. But honestly, these cutters are so useful I don't mind owing half a dozen.
The ceramic blade is completely safe, and it's quite bizarre that it can cut through boxes, tape, and vinyl so easily and smoothly. The blade doesn't cut you, but it cuts all the shipping materials, except for metal.
The recommended uses for the Manual Carton Cutter are:
1. Opening boxes, packaging, and shrink wrap
2. Slicing cardstock
3. Removing coupons from cereal boxes
The cutter also works well for deflating bubble wraps. You just need to put a bit of pressure on the bubbles, and the blade punctures through the bubble wraps. I get a lot of Amazon packages, and they love using inflated air padding (not sure what it's called exactly). The Manual Carton Cutter cuts them easily and safely. Much safer than using a utility knife.
I agree that Slice makes the best safety cutters when it comes to cutting cardboard boxes. My go-to cutter, though, is the Manual Mini Cutter.
It has a built-in magnet so you can keep it on the fridge or other metallic surfaces for easy access.
Although it's technically a "mini" cutter, the size is perfect, and the sliding mechanism for the blade is very convenient to use. The slider is right where my thumb is, and I can retract the blade when I'm not using it. If you're opening multiple boxes at a time like I am, this retractable feature comes in very handy.

I get so many packages, and I think it's about time I invest in a safety box cutter. Which safety cutter do you recommend?
