Have been buying the Trader Joe's advent calendar for years out of pure cheapness, finally upgraded to the Bissinger's Palace one this year and understand the hype now.
It's not subtle about being fancy — truffles, actual craftsmanship instead of the generic chocolate coins situation — but the thing that got me was opening it with my partner every night instead of alone. Turned into a whole little ritual, five minutes before bed, nothing crazy, just consistently nice. Cheap calendars feel like a countdown. This one feels like an actual treat you're both looking forward to.
Price is genuinely steep for chocolate, not going to pretend otherwise. But split between two people over 24 days it's basically the cost of two fancy coffees a week, and it's the only advent calendar I've had where we didn't just blow through all 24 doors in the first three days out of impatience.

It’s definitely in the splurge category, but omg it feels like opening a tiny chocolate jewel box every day. The packaging is gorgeous — like, display-on-your-console gorgeous — and the chocolates are legit next-level. Not your basic drugstore Advent pieces… these taste like someone’s chocolatier grandma who trained in Paris made them with love.
It’s one of those calendars where you don’t just eat the day’s chocolate — you experience it with a little moment of silence and gratitude 😂. Also makes an insane gift if you want to impress someone without guessing their scent or skincare shade.
