The Best Purchase for a Dog That Eats Like It’s a Competitive Sport
For Whom/What:
Dogs who inhale dinner
Budget:
$20-300
Requirements:
Meaningfully slows eating
Easy to clean
Durable enough for everyday use
Safe and stable
Extra Details:
Slow-feeder bowls help, but some are annoying to wash and others seem to slow the dog down by approximately four seconds - a specific feeder, puzzle, automatic dispenser, lick mat, portioning system, or something I haven’t thought of?
The Toppl worked much better for our speed eater than the maze-style slow feeder bowls.
I put part of the meal inside, sometimes wet/freeze it, and dinner goes from an approximately 14-second event to an actual activity.
I also prefer it to complicated puzzle feeders because there aren't ten little plastic pieces to wash afterward. It's basically one chunky piece of rubber, the dog has to work at it, and it survives being treated like it owes him money.
I bought a second one so there's always a clean one available.
