Best Ergonomic Upgrades for a Small WFH Desk

For Whom/What:

Working from home on a laptop with limited desk space

Budget:

Budget: Preferably under $200, but flexible for something genuinely worth it

Requirements:

Helps with neck/shoulder strain and bad posture

Works with a small desk

Doesn’t require adding a full-size monitor

Comfortable for long workdays

Extra Details:

I work from my laptop most of the day and I’m really starting to feel it in my neck and shoulders. My setup is pretty small, so the usual advice to just buy a big external monitor isn’t ideal. Has anyone found a compact setup that actually made a noticeable difference? Laptop stands, portable monitors, monitor arms, separate keyboards, ergonomic accessories — I’m open to anything that doesn’t take over my entire desk. Would love to know what worked for you versus what ended up being unnecessary desk clutter.

Roost stand fixed like 80% of it for me. Folds up small enough to fit in a bag. Only complaint is you need an external keyboard and mouse once it's propped up, so factor that cost in too.

mStand from Rain Design if you want something that isn't foldable plastic — aluminum, doesn't wobble. Pricier than the folding ones but it's been on my desk two years with zero issues.
