I've been using these 2 products, focusing on my growing bump and thighs. When I was in college, I gained a lot of weight rapidly (it was way more than Freshman 15), so I already had some stretch marks on my thighs and buttocks even before I was pregnant. So I know I'm prone to stretch marks. I'll embrace them as a badge of honor, but still, I want to minimize them as much as possible. I'm currently 29 weeks pregnant, and so far, no marks.
I'll have to see how I do as my pregnancy progresses further into the third trimester, but my belly doesn't have any stretch marks yet.
I mix the body oil from Huxley with Clarins' Body Partner and apply the mixture liberally on my body.
Clarins' Body Partner is literally designed to prevent stretch marks by improving skin elasticity. Clarins claims that it helps reduce the look of stretch marks.
The Huxley body oil makes the mixture thicker and richer, which is exactly what my body needs. And did I mention it smells divine? The body oil is in "Moroccan Gardner" scent, and it smells just like a fresh bouquet of flowers. The Body Partner doesn't have a distinguishable scent (it's almost unscented), so the scent from the body oil really elevates the experience.
It absorbs quickly, too.
Crossing my fingers and hoping that this does the trick.
The goal is to make sure your skin doesn't go dry at all times.
As soon as you start that tingling feeling, your skin's stretching, and dryness doesn't help. That's why so many people swear by slathering on body oil 24/7. That being said, though, my gyno said stretch marks are sadly your genetics. If your mother or sister(s) got stretch marks during their pregnancies, chances are you'd also get stretch marks no matter how hard you try. But you can certainly mitigate that, and the best way to do it is by keeping your skin moisturized.
I used Burt's Bees Mama Bee Nourishing Body Oil.
I applied it right after the shower when my skin was still wet. It provided a light moisture barrier that lasted a lot longer than applying body cream alone. I applied just regular body cream on top of it, concentrating on my bump, hips, and thighs. The oil absorbs quickly and doesn't leave any sticky residue.
It has a really lovely lemony scent, and it was so refreshing to apply it after the shower because I was in my third trimester in summer and everything felt so heavy and hot.
You can continue to use it through postpartum and beyond.
