Instagram’s been buzzing with these sneakers from APL, and I was drawn to their sleek designs, subtle logo, and beautiful colors.
I was still on the verge of buying a pair, worried that it was just another hype because I wanted it to be functional as well as pretty.
Bottom line, if you’re a runner, go to the store (or online) and get a pair.
These sneakers rock.
I bought mine from Lululemon (I did not know Lulu carried APL sneakers!), and as always, the sales rep was more than helpful. She said she and her mom were huge fans of APL sneakers and recommended me the Phantom for running. There was also a non-lace version, but I’m the kind of person who wants shoelaces when running, so the decision was easy.
Choosing the color was hard, though!
They come in many colors, including some neutral like black or white.
I finally settled for the Rose Gold pair with some metallic hint, and I couldn’t be happier with the color. It looks even prettier in person! These go well with so many of my outfits, and these make great running errands/dropping kids-off shoes.
The details are impeccable!
The sneakers run true to size for me, and I’m 7.5 narrow.
They hug my feet, and the soles were supportive during my first 5-miles run.
And when it comes to running shoes, I know everybody has a different notion of cushion and support. I personally don’t like overly cushiony shoes as I feel wobbly and out-of-balance whenever I wear them.
The Phantom sneakers are lightweight and provide medium support that is ideal for running on treadmills.
The APL sneakers are notable for the hidden shoelaces, and it comes especially useful when you’re running on a treadmill. You can simply tuck in the laces, and the knot rarely comes undone.
The pair was pricey (about $200 incl. tax), but it was a worthy investment because my ankles and knees feel supported during the run.
Besides, many Nike and Adidas running pairs are similarly priced, so the price didn’t feel overly steep.
I’ve read some reviews about the soles squeaking, and that really got me worried until I tried them on. I don’t know whether each retailer carries a different line of products or not, but the pair I got from Lululemon did not squeak, and yes, both on the carpeted floors and hardwood.
These are certainly worth the hype and price tag.
Beyond cute and comfortable!
