Chinchillas are such inquisitive animals who love to jump and climb. I bought a few hanging fleece tubes for my chinchillas, and I highly, highly recommend them to any chinchilla owners who are looking for a way to spoil them.
Because chinchillas innately love to jump around the cage, it only made sense to set up a snooze zone above the cage floor.
And my boys LOVE their new hanging hidey tunnels.
Essentially, the fleece tube is a PVC pipe tube wrapped in a fleece cover.
If you’re handy, you can make one yourself as well. Just make sure to cover the tube entirely with fleece, so the chinchillas don’t chew on the tube and accidentally ingest the plastic pieces.
I’m horrible at DIYing, so I bought my tubes from Etsy. If you’re interested in the tubes I bought, check out ChinChic (https://www.etsy.com/shop/ChinChic).
I got to pick out fleece fabric from the wide selection of fabric choices ChinChic offered, and I loved the quality of them when I received them.
These are handmade to order, so expect a few days until they get shipped out.
The covers fit the tube snugly and the stitching looked great.
Each tube includes 2 washers and wingnuts so it can be securely mounted on FerretNation or CritterNation cages. I’m sure these can be mounted on other wired cages as long as the washers aren’t smaller than the wire spacing.
“Installing” the tube is straightforward and easy. Screwing the wingnut tight attaches the tube securely to the CritterNation cage I have for my chinnies.
