How to Incorporate Dog Beds Into Your Living Room with Style

My dogs are family. They make my family laugh, and more responsible and caring. Still, I try to keep my house as dog-odor-free as possible. I have fabric sofas, and they tend to absorb doggy odors much more than leather ones. Because the cushions are not removable, my dogs are not allowed on the couch. But our little scheming artists always find ways to climb up and snuggle on the sofa, so I invested in quality dog beds that are both comfortable and stylish so they blend in beautifully with my living room.

Since my dogs always want to be with us, I decided to make a dedicated spot where the dog beds go in the living room where we spend the most time lounging, snacking, and talking.

I left the whole right side of the living room for the dogs!

My dogs don’t really like fancy orthopedic foam beds anymore (maybe too firm?) so I looked for beds with softer inserts.

I found cute dog beds while flipping through the Pottery Barn catalog and decided to give them a try. Pottery Barn sells the bed inserts and covers separately so you can change out the covers to suit your style. I freed up some space in the living room and patiently waited for the beds to arrive.

The beds arrived yesterday, and my dogs and I excitedly opened the box!

I got 2 Medium bed inserts ($79) with the Shearling Pet Bed Covers ($89) as the weather is getting colder. The covers can be monogrammed. I didn’t get the covers monogrammed because once they are monogrammed, they are final sale, and ordering from online, I wasn’t sure how I’d like the covers. I wish I had gotten them monogrammed, though. They are the most stylish bed covers I’ve found.

They remind me a pair of UGGs! Woven from 100% polyester, the cover is so soft and warm. My dogs prefer to be on the new beds than the sofa because the covers feel like a thick warm blanket.

Their covers are so gorgeous and cozy.

The ivory and beige colors look great against my dark hardwood floors and the rest of my living room set.

The cover features a zipper closure, and it is machine washable.

The label, however, recommends dry cleaning to prolong the life of the cover.

Having plush dog beds has been much better for the dogs’ shoulders and joints. Because my dogs no longer jump on and off the couch, their shoulders get much less stress, preventing dislocation and degeneration.

Our living room is now truly a gathering hub for our family – humans AND dogs.

We all get to hang around and have our sitting areas. I launder the dog bed covers and spray some deodorizer in between washes, and our sofas stay odor-free!
