We teased on our last post that we purchased some art at the Beverly Hills Art Show, and each piece resonates with us in a profound and personal level. There were many talented artists showcasing their works at the show, and we had to stop at the Linda Donohue booth.
Based in Petaluma, California, Linda Donohue finds inspiration for her paintings from her love for Northern California landscapes and horseback riding.
Linda Donohue's paintings captivate the audience with their vivid colors and dynamic compositions, each canvas a window into her creative vision. With a mastery of abstraction, Donohue's work often blurs the lines between the tangible and the ethereal, inviting viewers to explore realms of imagination and emotion.
Her brushstrokes convey a sense of movement and energy. Through layers of texture and nuanced detail, Donohue infuses her pieces with depth and resonance, leaving a lasting impression on those who engage with her art. Each painting tells a story, beckoning the observer to embark on a journey of discovery and contemplation.
This was our favorite. Thoughtfully named, Blue Speaks to My Heart, this acrylic painting on canvas surely left a lasting impression. We went back to the booth multiple times debating whether to get this. Unfortunately, this was too big (48" x 60") for the wall we wanted to display. It was a hard pass.
Let us share some of her original paintings displayed at the booth.
This trio of paintings showed so much texture and highlighted the harmonious blend of vivid colors.
This large painting is called Lake House.
You can visit her studio/gallery in Petaluma, CA if you're looking for something specific.
She offers in-home consultations if you're in the Bay Area, and she also does commission works if you want custom-sized paintings.
Ta-da! This is what we got, and we LOVE it. It is called Jackrabbit.

Donohue was inspired by the jackrabbits she saw hopping around on her way to work, and when she made sure to convey their energetic movements on every brush stroke she took.
Hence the name, Jackrabbit.
Donohue signed the painting upon purchase - our very first original painting! She told us she prefers to sign her paintings post-sale because many of her works can be hung both vertically and horizontally.

This one would be hung vertically.
We love the vibrant colors and bold strokes. We can feel the vibrant energy of newly hatched young rabbits hopping around, full of life.
We also love how the painting introduces so much color to our neutral space. It serves as a focal point and grabs attention every time we enter the space. The colors look different throughout the day depending on the natural light the space gets, and it's a beautiful abstract painting. A showstopper!
You can find more of Linda Donohue's works at Saatchi Art or her website, lpdart.com.
Until next time,
