Oh! How I’ve waited so long to get this.

Vitra’s Eames House Bird is an iconic piece that represents the height of Mid-Century Modern design. It’s weird I wanted this bird because I don’t really like birds, crows in particular.

But I wanted this simple yet beautiful house bird (!) ever since I laid my eyes on it; however, I just couldn’t justify the price. Most Vitra products are quite pricey, but from my experience, they are backed by quality and craftsmanship. I know there are many knock offs on Amazon or other home decorating stores, but I didn’t want them.

The Eames House Bird comes in 2 finishes – black alder ($320) and walnut ($450).

This bird is simply stunning!

It proudly sits on the side of the sideboard in our dining room – beautiful.

Its simple black body sits atop two thin steel wire legs, and it has such a remarkable and impactful presence wherever it sits.

The bird’s eyes are really what sets the genuine product apart from other cheapos. The replicas have somewhat sloppy details (as to be expected), and the eyes are crude and fake-looking.

Also, the bird stands very stable. Even with seemingly flimsy legs, it is perfectly balanced and isn’t wobbly at all.

If you’re on the verge of purchasing one, I’d say go for it 1000%. You won’t be disappointed and will enjoy it for years to come. After all, the Eames House Bird has been a staple decorative object for decades.
