[Los Angeles Restaurant] Umigame Japanese Restaurant in Sherman Oaks, CA

I frequent restaurants in Sherman Oaks, and Umigame Japanese Kitchen is one of my go-to eateries whenever I get some Japanese food cravings.

I ordered delivery from Umigame three times and dined at the restaurant twice in the last month alone.

You can order delivery from Umigame through DoorDash.

The restaurant has a wide variety of menus, including sashimi, authentic Japanese ramen, and rolls.

Once you're seated, the server brings out ginger slices, wasabi, and a bowl of miso soup.

Miso soups are quite salty here, but they pair well with rolls and sashimi.

I felt like treating myself, so I ordered some tuna and yellowtail sashimi.

The freshwater eel is grilled and slathered in teriyaki sauce - it melts in your mouth! So, so good :)

Delish!

I also ordered a Dragon Roll made with fresh water eel and avocado on top of a shrimp tempura roll.

It is a pretty common menu among Japanese restaurants, but it isn't easy to get it right. The quality of the eel dictates how the roll turns out, and it was satisfyingly fresh.

The shrimp was a decent size, although it could've been bigger. The roll was delicious nonetheless.

And behold - I saved the best for last!

I had high hopes for the Lobster Crunch Roll, the house special, and it did not disappoint. The roll is made of lightly fried lobster on crispy crumbs, avocado, cucumber roll, smelt egg, and green onion.

The presentation was beautiful!

The lightly fried lobster chunks were cooked just right. Overcooked lobster tends to have a gummy texture, but that wasn't the case with this dish. I enjoyed every bite of this! If I must choose one menu from this restaurant, I'd choose this lobster roll :)

The combination of mayonnaise and sriracha complement each other, and it enhances the flavors of the roll.

Outstanding dining experience!
