MidWest Bottom Pan Cover for a Ferret Nation and Critter Nation Cage

I have recently upgraded to the stainless steel cage pans from Bass Equipment Company. They are designed to replace the plastic pans that the Ferret Nation cages come with. I hated the plastic pans because they were not only unsafe for rodents (they could easily chew throw plastic and accidentally ingest the pieces) but also super annoying as they failed to contain droppings. I love everything about the pans, but I needed a fleece liner to keep my chinchilla’s feet warm. No one likes to step on ice-cold stainless steel floors in winter (yes, not even chinchillas).

I would’ve made one myself, but I don’t own a sewing machine. And because I needed to buy some fleece, buying a fleece liner seemed like a more sensible idea.

Each cover measures 34.75” x 23.25”, ideally fitting inside the standard Ferret Nation cage.

This is a fleece cover that is supposed to be used on Ferret Nation’s plastic pans. Now I see these covers, the plastic trays can be a chew-proof choice for those who wish to keep the original pans.

The fleece is soft and warm to the touch.

It’s dual-sided – sky blue and purple.

Because it’s a cover, it’s essentially a fleece pillowcase with Velcro strips attached on one side.

I find it to be very plush since I’m using it as a double-lined fleece liner. Very thick and plush!

The tag and care label is securely hidden inside the cover so the small animals wouldn’t get to it and chew through it.

Made from polyester, it’s machine washable and dryer safe.

To maximize the life of the cover and prevent it from shrinking, I’ll probably line dry it.

Nation Accessories™ offers covers for both the bottom and top pans with the cut-out.

I just cleaned my chinchilla’s cage and just put the fleece in.

It fits nicely and is much cozier than the cold stainless steel surface.

If you have a sewing machine and some extra fleece laying around at home, then awesome, make a fleece liner yourself. But if you have neither, these cage pan covers make a great budget-friendly alternative.
