If you are a chin owner, you know providing a great cage with lots of room and exercise options is essential for keeping your chin engaged, happy, and healthy. I got my chin in 2014, and since then, I added fun cage accessories to keep him happy, and he is thriving! There are many cage accessories including nesting houses, wooden ramps, or leaping ledges; and they can be added liberally based on your chin's activity level, cage size, and configurations. There is one thing I urge all chinchilla owners to include in the cage, though, is an exercise wheel.

Quality Cage Crafters' Chin Spin is hands down the best, and it is 100% worth the price. It is made of metal and wood. There are cheaper alternatives, but they are either too small or made with subpar material like plastic. If an exercise wheel is too small, it will cause strain on the chinchillas' spine. And we all know how dangerous plastic can be to rodents who love to gnaw at everything.

This 15" exercise wheel provides a large 6-1/4" running space to accommodate even the larger chins. My chinchilla is a big, chunky boy, and he loves his wheel!
Meet my cutie!

The Chin Spin was originally available in 1 finish, Silver-Vein. It is the galvanized metal finish that goes well with most chin cages that are commonly used, such as Critter Nation or Quality Cage Crafters.
Now it's available in a myriad of colors. Same materials but more fun colors.

It mounts securely and durably on the wires.
I have a Critter Nation cage, and it fits and mounts easily. The wheel can be mounted on the side or back of the cage.

Mounting the wheel is easy and standard. Most chinchilla cage accessories are mounted using wing nuts and washers, and the Chin Spin has the same mounting mechanism.

My purchase came with the mounting instructions. You will be amazed at how durable and solid the wheel is. Considering how long chins live in captivity (easily 15 years and more), investing in a quality exercise wheel was more than worth it.
And chins love it! I can hear them doing intense cardio, haha!
