There are so many dog shampoo options out there that finding one can be a daunting task. When I google “the best dog shampoo” or search “dog shampoo” on Amazon, there are literally so many products with amazing ratings. I’ve come to realize that “best” is a rather subjective term because no dog is the same. The best shampoo for a dog with skin allergies is one that contains soothing oatmeal, and for a dog with fleas, specially-formulated flea shampoos are probably what they need. Trying different shampoos to “test” out and find the right shampoo for your dog is probably the best, but it can be both time-consuming and research-heavy. Having said that, I’d like to share my dog’s favorite shampoo for you to test out.

I’ve tried a myriad of dog shampoos out there from well-known brands like Burt’s Bees to super premium niche pet brands. And Aesop’s Animal Shampoo completely won my (and my dog’s) heart.

If you live near an Aesop store, be sure to check it out in person when you have time. Shopping there has been a great experience, not just for animal shampoos but human products like aromatherapy hand wash or body lotion. The sales associates are beyond cordial and helpful, but they don’t pressure me to purchase their products.

Aesop’s Animal Shampoo not only comes in the prettiest bottle but effectively cleanses my dog without irritating her sensitive skin.

The bottle is so stylish that it deserves a special spot.

Why shouldn’t it? Animals are family.

The brown bottle is made of plastic, instead of glass to keep the weight lighter and safer in slippery bathrooms. I can’t guarantee that I won’t drop the bottle when my dog decides to throw a tantrum for giving her a bath.

The shampoo is concentrated and has a gel-like consistency.

It’s much better than the diluted, watery formula because it clings onto dogs’ hair better and therefore less shampoo gets wasted that way.

As long as you thoroughly wet your dog’s hair, it will lather very well.

I love how the shampoo is subtly scented.

The shampoo smells mostly of lemongrass, and the whole bathing experience is nothing but pleasant.

The Animal Shampoo is formulated with lemon rind, tea tree leaf, and spearmint leaf.

I have a 3-year-old pit bull. It leaves my dog’s hair so soft and shiny, and I honestly don’t see the reason to use a separate conditioner.

My dog gets regular baths every week or bi-weekly, depending on her activity levels, and the shampoo doesn’t dry my dog’s skin out.

Its gentle formula is so kind to my dog’s sensitive skin, and I can feel how moisturizing the shampoo is because my hands don’t feel dry after I give my dog a bath.

Many popular dog shampoos I’ve used left my hands super dry, and my dog suffered from chronically dry skin and flakes when she was bathing with them.

It is so worth the price, and I’m so glad that I’ve discovered it.
