Korean food is DELICIOUS! I love visiting South Korea because their food is unequivocally delicious. Korean cuisine is an art of blending saltiness (soy sauce), sweetness (honey/sugar/other sweetening syrups), and spiciness (red pepper or gochujang). Almost all Korean recipes, including popular dishes like Bulgogi, LA galbi or ddukbokki, call for the combination of the 3 tasting notes. My husband and I cannot get enough of Korean beef dishes like bulgogi; however, it’s difficult to make a good sauce for marinating the meat. Although making sauces for most Korean dishes is somewhat straightforward, it calls for quite many ingredients like minced garlic or apple puree.
I found these BBQ-flavored beef patties from Costco and decided to give them a try. If you live in California, most Costco locations have much Asian food in the frozen food aisle. I buy frozen dumplings at Costco, as well.
Bibigo is a very well-known frozen food manufacturer in Korea, and many of my Korean friends speak highly of the brand, as well. These BBQ-flavored beef patties are just like burger patties, only smaller (sampler size).
The patties are marinated in Bibigo’s BBQ sauce, which is very similar to traditional Bulgogi sauce, in my opinion. It’s got that semi-sweet soy sauce flavor that I love so much.
Reheating instructions are easy to follow – you can either microwave the patties (the easy and quick way) or cook them on a stovetop or oven.
I tried all 3 cooking methods, and my favorite is stovetop cooking. The microwaved patties were soggy and too tender for my liking. I like the patties to be slightly crispy on the outside while retaining the juicy flavor inside, and the stovetop cooking delivers just that.
Make sure to cook them on low heat to ensure even, thorough cooking. I thought about cooking them in the air fryer, but I feel like it’ll dry the juicy up, leaving the patties dry.
These are delicious. A Korean food lover approved! I recommend these.
