Choosing the hardware is probably a bath remodel's most exciting and fun part. Whether you are building a new house or renovating an old one, kitchens and bathrooms get the most attention.

This was the inspiration when I was shopping for the shower fixtures for the newly remodeled walk-in shower. I liked everything about it - the textured tile, matte black trim and fixtures, and ambient lighting. As I was looking at different shower fixtures, I realized I liked fixtures with straight lines, so I went with California Faucets' Morro Bay Shower System Kit.

There is a whole set of Morro Bay bath hardware in the collection - from a towel bar to complete shower system kits. I particularly loved how the fixtures have straight edges, perfect for modern bathrooms.

All the pictures I saw online were in the Satin Nickel finish, so it was daunting to choose the matte black without seeing it, but all in all, the choice turned out to be great in the space.

I recommend California Faucets if you're looking for unique hardware finishes. It has so many finishes to choose from to give your home that custom home vibe.

I made sure to add both the showerhead and hand shower on the bar. The handheld shower is so useful when you're cleaning the shower enclosure, so if your plumbing allows it, please install a separate handheld shower!

The handlebar is adjustable, so you can freely move it up and down based on your height and needs.

The straight lines and ultra-thin profile make the shower system contemporary and geometrically balanced.

The trim is so beautiful! Constructed in brass, the trim features a 100° F safety stop button with manual override. Also, the Morro Bay Styletherm Thermostatic Shower System has a static temperature feature which keeps a constant temperature, so you don't have to manually control it every time you turn on the faucet.

The temperature safety stop button is such a neat feature; however, if you're installing one in the guest bathroom, you might want to explain how to override it. You just have to press the safety button and turn the knob to the desired temperature.

The only minor downside to the matte black finish is that it tends to show hard water marks; however, it's not as bad as polished chrome. Most finishes show watermarks eventually, so I'm not too bothered by it. If you are looking for a finish with the least maintenance, I suggest satin nickel. It hides the marks most effectively.

If you're thinking about ordering from California Faucets, be sure to order weeks ahead of your project's completion date because the lead time is 12-16 weeks.

I love my walk-in shower. My bathroom feels serene, peaceful, and spa-like with a lit shampoo niche, textured tile, and chic hardware. My dream shower, achieved!
