It seems like everyone has a stand mixer (or two!), and I've been meaning to get one for years. Whether you are an avid baker or not, a stand mixer is a great kitchen appliance that can be used for so many cooking needs, so investing in one is a wise decision. KitchenAid is undoubtedly the most well-known and popular stand mixer on the market, and I particularly loved how its stand mixers came in different sizes and its versatile attachment offerings. What that means is that with a single stand mixer, you can replace so many small kitchen appliances, freeing up some countertop and cabinet space. But I fell in love with Smeg's stand mixer design and ended up getting it. And I really like it a lot.

What more can I say - it's a SMEG!

I got the cream color, a quintessential Smeg color. I don't think any brand can pull off an off-white, cream color better than Smeg. The stand mixer is available in other Smeg colors as well - black, pastel blue, pastel green (mint), pink, red, and silver.

The box has intuitive illustrations that showcase the stand mixer's contents, color, and the mixer's functionality. It's these little details that make a quality item stands out even from unboxing.

With the purchase of this stand mixer, you are set for basic baking needs as it contains 3 attachments and a stainless steel bowl.

The color's so creamy and gorgeous!

The attachments are also nestled inside the stanless steel bowl.

These are the attachments and accessories you get - a stainless steel bowl, pouring shield, wire whisk, flat beater, and dough hook. The bowl, flat beater and dough hook are dishwasher safe.

The speed control is located on top of the mixer, and you can change the speed by sliding the toggle left and right. This way, you get a gradual increase and decrease of speed, and this gradual change prevents ingredients from jumping out and making a mess.

The SMEG letters are 3D, adding a more sophisticated and luxurious touch.

You can add other attachments in here.

Like KitchenAid stand mixer, Smeg's mixer can be used for other food processing needs using various attachments that can be purchased separtely. Admittedly, Smeg's attachment offerings are limited than those of KitchenAid; however, Smeg has all the essentials like a meat grinder, pasta maker, and shredder.

I'll make a separate post about the attachments later.

On the back of the mixer, there is a tilt button.

The head tilts smoothly and steadily. The head is quite substantial, so I was worried about the head being wobbly when I'm tilting it; however, it tilts smoothly and stays locked once tilted.

There is a safety lock mechanism once the head is tilted up for added safety.

Smeg's stand mixer has a 600 W power and the body is made from die-case aluminum.

It is the perfect combination of iconic midcentury style and modern functionality.

Some mixing action!

Dough's ready.

Voila!

It is true that Smeg's stand mixer doesn't offer as many attachments as KitchenAid's; however, for an occasional home baker who loves the retro-chic design of Smeg, this stand mixer is a clear winner.
