I have been saving up for many months to buy the Electric Diffuser from Diptyque, and I finally splurged. I’m not a huge fan of both scented candles and diffuser sticks, so finding a home fragrance that keeps my house smelling fresh has been a challenge. I find scented candles make a room stuffy, and I once knocked over a diffuser bottle by accident, which turned out to be a complete disaster. Diffusers with wooden sticks aren’t covered, so you have to be extra, extra careful not to knock it over. The oily diffuser DESTROYS furniture and hardwood floors. So, you get why I was dying to get this Electric Diffuser despite the jaw-dropping price ($350).

The electric diffuser arrived packaged in this substantial cardboard box, and unboxing it was joyous and special.

The diffuser consists of a electric unit where the diffuser refill is placed, a porcelain cover, an informatory booklet and a charger.

The porcelain cover not only functions as a design element but also protects the diffuser refill from dust, so the refill gets clear air flow.

The gold diffuser unit features a pull-up diffuser slot on top, and this is where the refill goes in.

Now all I need to do is place a refill and put the porcelain cover on top.

The Electric Diffuser is rechargeable and can be used wirelessly for quite some time. I have an electrical outlet literally right below my entryway console where I placed the diffuser, so charging can be easily accessible.

About the design -
Diptyque has nailed the design as well. The diffuser doesn’t look like a men’s techy gadget (although it’s technically “electric” and uses a USB charger) with its modern white body and a delicate gold accent in the center.

It looks like a decorative object! I love it and the way it looks on my white console table. It will be a great gift as well!

About the fragrance and the throw –
Although I love coming home that’s filled with pleasant fragrances, I cannot stand most wall plug-ins or strong potpourri. I find them to be too artificial and overwhelming. The Electric Diffuser, on the other hand, emits a subtle fragrance that feels like a fresh bouquet of flowers. I keep mine in the entryway, and I’m welcomed by this delicate and beautiful fragrance every time I enter the house.
And the best part is that the Electric Diffuser will never spill on me, potentially damaging my furniture and floors. I’m not much of a klutz and have a rather organized life, but accidents happen.
Unfortunately, the Electric Diffuser does not come with starter scented inserts or refills. So, make sure to purchase additional scented insert or two when you’re ordering the Electric Diffuser. I visited a Diptyque boutique, and the sales person helped me choose the scented inserts I liked. I bought two scented inserts – Roses and Baies, probably the two most popular Diptyque scents. I thought they smelled lovely and appealed to a wider range of people (aka the perfect choices as home fragrance).

Each scented insert is enclosed in a resealable bag in case you need to swap out the scents.

Almost everyone who’s visited my house comments on how lovely my entryway smells (the first thing anyone notices when they step into my home), and they find my Electric Diffuser so cool.

I cannot recommend this enough – if you can afford it, this is the most practical, safest and aesthetically-pleasing diffuser in the market.
