iRobot® recently came up with its most powerful and intuitive robot vacuum in the industry (in my humble opinion), and I couldn’t be happier with it. It’s got everything a robot vacuum owner can expect from its futuristic design to its amazing cleaning ability. And the new Automatic Dirt Disposal is a cherry on top.
I was screaming out of excitement when my brand-new Roomba® arrived. I’ve been a passionate user and admirer of Roomba®, and I believe iRobot® makes the best in the market, hands down. I’ve tried various other robot vacuums over the years, and I’ve heard from my family members' or friends’ experiences with other vacuums. The navigational technology, suction, and power are all superior, and Roombas®, especially the higher models, are worth the extra money.
The Roomba® S9+ is released in early June 2019, and it has a distinctive new design for more thorough cleaning on the edges.
Previous Roomba® models have circular designs. The s9+, on the other hand, has a rectangular front, so it can tackle the corners and crevices more efficiently.
The Plus (+) models include the Automatic Dirt Disposal, and you can purchase a vacuum without the disposal base. For example, Roomba® S9 comes in a regular base and S9+ includes the Automatic Dirt Disposal.
You can also purchase the disposal unit separately if you already purchased the regular unit but want to add the disposal. Note though, it is more expensive to purchase them separately than in a bundle.
I love this Automatic Dirt Disposal because Roomba® empties its bin itself for up to 30 bins. After each cleaning job, Roomba® empties its bin, and you can hear this loud whirling noise (usually 10 seconds or less). The dirt gets pushed into this vertical container of the base, and there is a disposable dirt disposal bag to maximize convenience. No need to brush off any remaining dirt or dander, just pull out the dirtbag and toss it.
If you get frequently frustrated while emptying a vacuum bin because all the allergen and dust fly out while you’re trying to empty it in the trash, you will love this feature. With a 30-bin capacity, you can forget about emptying the bin for weeks at a time.
If you need to manually empty the bin, you can do so by lifting this center bronze lid.
You can also clean and change out the filter here.
The package includes an additional dirt disposal bag, and it can be purchased separately, of course.
You also get an extra High-Efficiency Filter and a Corner-Sweeping Brush. These need to be replaced frequently to ensure optimal performance of Roomba®.
All the buttons are touch sensor-enabled.
It does a fabulous job of picking up my dog’s hair, allergen, and dirt. Roomba® cleans my house so thoroughly and efficiently, much better than manual vacuuming. I used to have a housekeeper, and honestly, my new Roomba® is SO MUCH BETTER than her. It gets every.single.hair. The angular design catches any hair that’s stuck on the bottom of my baseboards and corners.
Roomba® s9+ is smart hub compatible, with added convenience via Amazon Echo and Google Home voice commands. You can fully utilize what the s9+ has to offer using iRobot®’s app. The s9+ supports Smart Maps, which allows the s9+ to learn and sectionalize each room of your house.
After a few initial runs, my s9+ was able to map out my home’s floor plan and allowed me to label each room. And using the Smart Maps technology, I can ask my Roomba® to clean a specific room. Considering how quickly my kitchen becomes a landing zone for all sorts of mess, this is a highly useful and practical feature.
I set up a cleaning schedule, so my Roomba® can get to work after I leave for work. When the battery is low, it goes back to its charging station and charges itself. Once charged, it resumes the cleaning and completes it. I now get to come home to a clean home, and my floors are just amazingly clean.
Yes, it is definitely a premium robot vacuum; however, if you’re investing in a robot vacuum, you’d like to get the most out of your new vacuum, right? The S9+ will not get lost, stuck, or mindlessly bump into every single piece of your furniture. The Automatic Dirt Disposal feature truly enables home automation. With Smart Maps that section each room of your house, you get to clean the specific area because some areas always get heavier traffic. If your budget allows it, then I really can’t think of a better robot vacuum to get your floors cleaned.
