Looking for an iconic Hawaiian treat? You need to go try these Portuguese doughnuts at Leonard's Bakery.

Leonard's Bakery is a local bakery specializing in malasadas (Portuguese donuts), bread, pastries, and other sweets. It's been around since 1952, and it was highly recommended by a local friend when I was visiting Hawai'i. I had to visit this bakery. I mean, who can say no to a donut?!

The bakery is easy to spot, but parking was quite challenging. The bakery has its own parking lot, but the space was limited, and I had to wait until a customer exited the lot. But the spot opened up quickly as the bakery didn't have any seating area, and everyone was getting their orders to go.

Leonard's Bakery is famous for malasadas, fried pastries that are slightly crispier and chewier than a doughnut and with no holes. It also has malasada puffs, which are malasadas with custard, chocolate, coconut, macadamia nut, or guava filling.

The inside is small but everything was well organized and presented.

The bakery sells other pastries and desserts as well.

And some Leonard's merch!

These stuffed animals were so cute.

I was there with some friends and family, so I ordered a dozen of original and cinnamon malasadas.

Packaged in the signature pink box, the smell was divine.

It's fluffy and so delicious. Malasadas are slightly chewier than regular donuts, and they were delightful. I ended up eating 4 - two of each flavor. Definitely ate more than I should've, but it was so worth it.

If you're in Hawai'i, malasadas are something you must try!
