Located at Trancas Country Market in Malibu, California, Malibu Brewing Company has high-quality beers along with light menus that pair amazing together.
MBC combines quality ingredients and its brewing practices to craft premium beer such as stouts, porters, pilsners, and a barrel-aged beer program.
The first time I visited MBC, the weather in Malibu wasn't as sunny as it usually is. It was cloudy and humid, but I wanted to sit on the patio because it overlooks the complex. Sitting down on the patio, you can see the neighboring restaurant, Kristy's Village Cafe.
I suggest ordering a sampler! It is a great way to discover and try new brews. After sampling, you can order the one you like in a larger size.
And here's the menu.
All of the dishes are designed to pair with MBC's craft beers, and I have been impressed with how tasty the food was here. I assumed that the food would be blah because you're coming here for the beers, but no, all the dishes I ordered were phenomenal.
This is Grilled Elote - grilled sweet corn, topped with red chile crema, avocado cilantro crema, cotija cheese, and micro cilantro.
This sharable appetizer is a brewery favorite, and I highly suggest you try it!
The Grilled Flat Iron Steak is a hearty and filling dish. You get marinated flat iron steak grilled and topped with a zesty chimichurri, served alongside roasted seasonal vegetables. You can either get mashed potatoes or substitute them with another side. My go-to side from MBC is the basket house fries. They're so crispy!
You can purchase MBC's beer separately, as well.
But you can't beat eating out on a patio on a breezy Sunday afternoon, right? The sampler is served right away, so you can order the larger size before your food is served. And as you sample and choose the one you like, you can ask the server for food recommendations that pair well with your beer.
From the sampler, my favorite was Tower 17, with a pleasant fruity aroma.
We'll go with a burger and some tacos today.
This burger! So good!
The Cali Smash is essentially an upgraded version of the Original MBC Smashburger. It has sliced avocado, heirloom tomato, and arugula added to the MBC Smash that is made with 2 beef patties topped with American cheese, beer-braised onions, garlic pickles, shredded lettuce, and Triple-A sauce on a toasted potato bun. I substituted the lattice potato chips with the house fries, and they are the bomb!
For a lighter menu, I ordered the Fresh Catch Tacos. You can 3 tacos featuring fresh fish of the day or shrimp, topped with coastal coleslaw, crispy capers, and cilantro avocado crema. You can either have the protein grilled or fried. The tacos also come with a basket of tortilla chips.
These tacos go perfectly with Tower 17!
If you want to fully embrace the true Malibu spirit, opt for its merch. Malibu Brewing Company has a curated selection of merch that captures the essence of Southern Californian living.
This straw hat is breathable and functional if you're heading out to a beach.
It's the perfect combination between classic style and function.
The custom leaf pattern print under the brim adds a fun touch to this straw hat.
Or the Surf Trucker Hat with a mesh backing that dries super quickly, thanks to its neoprene construction. I particularly love the olive color finished with the embroidered MBC glass logo patch.
MBC also has apparel, for those who are fans of its beers and carefree Malibu style.
From lightweight t-shirts to cozy sweatshirts, MBC has stylish merch.
I love this beige hoodie! Inspired by Malibu's 21 miles of coastal beauty, this sweatshirt is soft and cozy. It provides warmth for the cooler nights when the sun sets here in Malibu.
Malibu Brewing Company is open daily at 11 am, so if you're in Malibu, give this place a try. It's an experience.
