If your jewelry drawer in your closet is overflowing, it is time for you to get a new jewelry box. I used to think jewelry boxes were only for high-end accessories, diamonds, and expensive watches. But a friend of mine strongly recommended a jewelry box for better organization, and now I wonder why I haven’t bought it sooner.

After doing some online research, I landed on the McKenna Leather Jewelry Box from Pottery Barn. It was spacious and pretty. I was initially drawn to acrylic jewelry storage; however, it looked messy and unorganized when it was filled with accessories.

I rarely pay the full price at Pottery Barn because it usually has some kind of promotion going on. The regular price for the large jewelry box was $199, but I got it at $150 when Pottery Barn was having a 25% sale. Considering how well-made and sturdy the box is, it was a great purchase.
This box holds a LOT. With all my collection, the box isn’t even half full. The box is pretty big (Dimensions 13” W x 9” D x 7” H) for a jewelry box; however, it doesn’t waste any space when it comes to storing jewelry. Every inch of the box is used for storage!

The McKenna Jewelry Box comes in 2 sizes – Medium and Large. Even the medium holds a considerable amount. I went with the large because it features more travel-friendly sub-compartments.

Wrapped in embossed bonded leather, the box is constructed in a frame that is made of MDF, an engineered wood that boasts strength and durability over time. The compartments are lined with faux suede.

The large box opens in 2 ways. You can first lift the cover up to access the mirror and top compartment. You can lift the compartment to a deeper storage where you can store items that are in miscellaneous sizes. And then the front drops down, revealing the drawer and tray compartment.

The top compartment has multiple slots for earrings, rings, bracelets and necklaces. I like these slots because the earrings don’t shift around.
The middle drawer makes an ideal spot to store watches.
And the box in the middle can be carried around, making the box a great option for travelers.

The bottom tray slides out easily, and it’s a great way to store accessories when you’re taking a longer vacation. The tray is slim and flat, so fitting it in a suitcase is not an issue.

The jewelry box comes in multiple colors, but they all feature chrome hardware and a tassel key. The key actually locks the box to my surprise. I thought it was there for a decorating purpose.

All in all, the McKenna Jewelry Box is a well-thought-out storage for various accessories. The boxes are so pretty, and they blend right in the closet, on top of a nightstand or a vanity. Because the box is not transparent like acrylic boxes, all my accessories are protected from oxidization.

Also, I can see all my jewelry in neat order, so finding one that matches my outfit has become easier. Because each piece gets a designated spot, I don’t need to deal with necklaces getting tangled or digging through the drawer to find the other earring. Traveling has gotten easier.

I love this box. Pottery Barn also offers monogramming if you want to personalize your own jewelry box.
