I was gifted a Stokke Sleepi crib by my parents-in-law, and I am in love with this generous gift.
It is such an amazingly versatile product that transitions from a mini crib to a full-sized bed.
The Sleepi Bed is available in 3 colors - natural, white and hazy grey.
I was dead set on the natural color because my house has a lot of light-colored wood, but the other two colors are gorgeous, as well. Choose the color based on the nursery's theme or color. All 3 colors are amazing.
Unboxing time!
You can either purchase the Sleepi Mini and buy additional extenders to make the crib longer or you can buy the full Sleepi Bed from the beginning, build it to a mini size, and store the extenders for later transitions.
My husband and I just installed the Sleepi Bed to the full size because we didn't want to purchase a separate mattress and fitted sheets when the baby transitioned from the Mini to the full size.
This is the Sleepi Bed V3, which is the newest iteration of the Sleepi bed. Stokke released the V3 bed in September 2022, so all Sleepi beds you purchased after that date should be the V3 model.
The biggest improvement from the V2 bed is the longer length. The bed is now 55.5 inches deep, and it grows with your baby from newborn to 5 years.
The base is height adjustable, which is highly useful because the last thing you want to do postpartum is bend over excessively to reach for the baby several times a day.
Stokke's Sleepi Bed is made of solid European beech wood, and it is indeed a substantial and quality item.
The craftsmanship is evident, and it's a very sturdy crib! I was surprised to learn that it can withstand up to 264 lbs!
The oval shape is so pretty. Stokke claims that the soft oval shape is designed to mimic the mother's womb and therefore cocoons and comforts the baby. I don't know about that honestly, but I know it's super adorable!
The bed doesn't come with a mattress, a fitted sheet, and a mesh liner (a guard that prevents the baby's foot from getting caught in between the slats), so you'll have to purchase them separately. I got the matching bed mattress, fitted sheets and mesh liner from Stokke, and they fit like gloves!
The Stokke logo is marked on the side of the crib.
Another great thing about the Sleepi Bed is that it comes with wheels. A lot of cribs that are highly rated or bestselling were immobile. I wanted to bring out the crib during the day and move it freely around the house, so the Sleepi Bed was a clear winner.
And let me just tell you - the wheels are SMOOTH. I thought at first they looked flimsy. But they are so well made and smooth, smooth and smooth. I can roll the whole bed (the full-size bed!) with one foot, and I barely had to put any force.
You can lock the wheels to prevent it from sliding around. The locking mechanism is very much appreciated for safety reasons. The wheels make all the difference, especially if you want to be close to your baby and still get some chores done during the day.
Can't wait to use it!
