ZEE.BED - The World's First Dog Bed in a Box

Staffordshire Bull Terriers are probably one of the most comfort-obsessed breeds.

My Staffy’s attempts to find the coziest spot in the house have been so persistent, and no matter how many dog beds I laid out throughout the house, she’d hop onto my couch and bed when I’m not looking.

After many (wasted) dog beds from pet stores, I’ve noticed that Dallas (my dog’s name) definitely prefers memory foam or other orthopedic beds. I first assumed that she’d love donut-shaped beds because they surround you like you’re snuggling. She sits on them and sleeps on them if they’re the only beds around, but when there is a more supportive bed, she’d go straight to that one.

When it was time to replace Dallas’ memory foam beds, I shopped around to check out more premium beds - Casper, Yeti, Purple, and Zee.Dog. They all seemed like solid contenders, ranging anywhere between $99 to $300, depending on the size of the bed. I chose Zee.Dog’s bed because it seemed like the best quality for the bucks - the large bed cost $119.99, which was a very reasonable price for a memory foam bed. And the modern, grey color and black anti-slip backing were esthetically pleasing. To be fair, other brands also had similarly shaped beds in similar grey colors, so feel free to check them out and see if any of them speak to you more.

First impression!

I purchased the bed through Chewy, and it arrived super fast (like in a day?!).

Because the bed is pressure-packaged in a vacuum-sealed bag, it arrived in a smaller box than I had expected.

But I welcome smaller boxes as larger cardboard boxes are harder to break down and put in the recycling bin, LOL. Because the bed arrives completely pressurized, it needs some time to “puff up” to its normal size (just like boxed mattresses). I unboxed it and left it overnight for it to inflate.

The bed comes in 2 sizes - Small and Large. Note, though, the Large isn’t too large. It only measures 31.9” x 28”, which is ideal for medium to medium-to-large dogs (like my Shiba). Since the bed has cushioned head support around the edges, you get about a 19” x 23” of flat surface for a dog to lay on. The size is actually perfect for my 32 lbs Staffy! She can stretch her legs or curl up comfortably.

Zee.Dog’s bed is made of ultra-comfortable, orthopedic memory foam, and it is quite firm to the touch. Just like most memory foam mattresses, it molds into your dog’s position, supporting his/her body.

Once the bed was sufficiently inflated, Dallas jumped right onto the bed and has been napping there since.

You can also purchase extra bed covers - great for laundry days or puppies.

And if you’re concerned about your dog spoiling the bed (vomiting or urinating), opt for the Watershield Bed Cover that is sold separately. It goes underneath the bed cover (just like any mattress cover) to prevent any liquid from seeping through and soiling the mattress foam. Although the bed covers are machine washable, the mattress foam isn’t, so I think investing in a Watershield is wise. I'll do a separate blog post about the cover.

If your dog is into orthopedic beds and needs medium-to-firm support due to medical reasons, I cannot recommend this dog bed enough.
