Can you guess what's fueling this fireplace?
You may be wondering how can a fireplace be exposed out in the open like this on the coffee table. The "fire" is in fact fine mist produced by ultrasonic atomization, illuminated by LED light strips. I was considering getting a gas fireplace in my house but decided not to get one because it makes the air too dry. I wanted the ambiance of a fireplace, so I'm thrilled that I discovered Aquafire.
AFire Designs' Aquafire works like this:
After you fill up a tank (you can do so manually or automatically by connecting it to a tap water source before installation), the Aquafire fireplace will go through a process of ultrasonic atomization. Every Aquafire is equipped with an ultrasonic transducer with a thin ceramic disc, better known as a "mist-maker". Water flows through the mist chamber, causing the ceramic disc to vibrate at hypersonic speeds. And then the water gets dispensed in a web-like mist.
The mist disperses through the vent and is backlit by LED light strips, creating the flame effect.
It looks so real! And all without the risk of burning my house down. Because it's essentially mist, it functions as a humidifier, as well. So if you live in a dry climate like Arizona, you will greatly benefit from installing one.
Depending on the model you purchase, you can customize the color of the fire. The natural orange color is the default flame color; however, you can do all kinds of fun colors.
You can choose a solid color or set a combination of colors if you have a larger model with multiple LED strips.
Aquafire currently has more than 30 preset colors.
You can enjoy the cozy glow of a fireplace even in the summer.
Because it's essentially water, this fireplace is a much safer option, especially if you have young children or curious pets.
I was wondering about its maintenance, and I was pleased to learn that Aquafire has thought it through. Aquafire is essentially a giant humidifier, so if it's not properly cared for, it would be a breeding ground for bacteria and fungus. Aquafire is equipped with germicidal UV-C lamps that disinfect the vapor as it runs on water.
This will prevent any funky smell from bacteria growth.
Looks so real!
