I've wanted Bernardaud's dishes for years, and I've been collecting several pieces at a time since the pandemic. As I spent more time at home, I cooked more at home and wanted the mealtimes to feel special and sacred. The pandemic was the perfect time to invest in the premium dinnerware I've been eyeing.

For those who haven't heard of Bernardaud, it is a French dinnerware brand that manufactures Limoges porcelain. Established in 1863, Bernardaud has been creating high-quality dinnerware and occasionally does collaborations with renowned artists like Jeff Koons or Prune Nourry Et Jr.

If you're starting your Bernardaud collection, you can't go wrong with the Ecume collection. It is unmistakenly Bernardaud, and I believe it's the epitome of French dinnerware.

The Ecume collection is recognizable by the bubbles on the porcelain. The hollow engravings on Ecume pieces are done so masterfully, and the patterns can be subtle and bold depending on the finish. The Ecume collection is available in several finishes. The white Ecume ware is modest and plain, which draws attention to the food.

Other colored-Ecume wares are bolder and more daring, highlighting the intricate patterns of the Ecume.

Still, because the Ecume pattern is only on the rim of the plates, the colored Ecume ware doesn't interfere with the food. French dining is all about drawing the focus on the food, so the Ecume wares are perfect for French cuisine.

The best thing about the Ecume collection is that you can mix and match different Ecume finishes to achieve different looks. I find the mixed table settings look much more refined and cultured.

I love this cake platter and pickle dish - they are so versatile when I'm entertaining. The long cake platter is ideal as a sandwich tray, fruit platter, or cheese board. The pickle dish is such a great-sized dish for a single-person snack plate!

The cereal bowl has so many uses for cereal (duh!), yogurt, soups, or ice cream ... it may be my most-used Ecume piece! So versatile, and I love it.

The Ecume plates highlight the food and make it look so delectable - whether it's a piece of cake or slices of an apple, the food takes center stage and the Ecume plates provide a gallery-like canvas for the food to shine.

Beautiful!
