Buster and Punch Cabinet Hardware

My husband and I recently bought our house which needed some renovating. Designing the kitchen layout and cabinetry, or adding kitchen appliances went smoothly because I’ve been picturing my dream kitchen ever since I started living on my own. Picking out the cabinet hardware, though, has proven to be a challenge.

There is a reason why so many builders do not install pulls or knobs on their model homes. They really change the look of the kitchen and reflect the owner’s character and preference.

My kitchen has a contemporary vibe, but I didn’t want the space to feel too modern (e.g. glossy white cabinets). Along with oak cabinets, I specifically looked for cabinet hardware to feel substantial and decorative without becoming too traditional. Without further ado, let me show you which hardware I chose for the kitchen cabinetry!

After weeks of research, I stumbled upon a cabinet/lighting brand called Buster + Punch. It is a high-end home fashion label based in London. Buster + Punch’s products are inspired by London’s fashion, music, and sub-culture scents, and I believe they embody London’s chic and somewhat masculine appeal. I fell in LOVE with their cabinet pulls and knobs as soon as I laid my eyes on them, and I knew I needed them in my kitchen.

Buster + Punch makes 7 different types of cabinet hardware. They can be installed on any cabinet front, including furniture. I chose Furniture Knobs and Pull Bars to furnish my kitchen. I recommend limiting hardware styles to 2 different styles if you want to achieve a more cohesive and organized look.

I didn’t add any hardware to my drawers because they have a push/pull mechanism. I chose Furniture Knobs for all the cabinet doors and Pull Bars for taller doors, including the pantry. For both Pull Bars and Furniture Knobs, you can choose to include the back plate. Having the matching back plate draws more attention to the hardware, an ideal choice if you want to make a statement. I chose the one with plates, and they’re so badass, in my opinion.

I had to special order these bad boys and get them shipped. They arrived in impeccable condition, and my carpenter did an amazing job installing them.

I admit - it was a lot of money. Each pull bar was over $100 ($125 for Large, which is what I got). Fortunately(?), the Furniture Knobs were sold as a pair, so they felt a little more affordable. Because they were so expensive, I really wanted to love something else. I spent some days browsing other hardware options, hoping that I’d like something else, but my mind was set. I went into a showroom with my husband to see them in person before shelling out $3K on kitchen hardware, and we were so impressed with the quality. The pictures simply don’t do justice. Each piece is very substantial in weight, and the grip is fantastic. The finish is pure perfection and quality craftsmanship.

I spoke with the design consultant at the showroom we visited, and she recommended various ways we could install the Furniture Knobs and Pull Bars. I debated on getting one style throughout the kitchen but ended up mixing the two based on the looks and functionality.

Pull Bars are particularly useful and functional when installed on larger, full-size cabinet doors like built-in refrigerators or pantry doors. The grip feels so much steadier and more comfortable than that of a knob, especially if the doors are on the heavier side.

I feel like these heavyweight pulls and knobs really keep my kitchen grounded. One of the biggest concerns I had with contemporary/modern kitchens was the cabinetry looking cheap and plasticky. These accessorize the cabinets and add some industrial charm, which is so unique and pretty. After installing them, I can now totally understand why so many people say the hardware is the true jewel of a kitchen.

I know that there aren’t many dealers that trade Buster + Punch products, so I’m happy to share my experiences and real-life photos of some of their pulls and knobs. There is only one flagship store in North America (located in Burbank, CA).
