CES this year had a lot of AI-powered robots for kids, designed to aid their education, learning experiences, and cognitive development. Here are some of the intelligent robots for kids that I found interesting.
This is Moxie - a conversational learning robot backed by Amazon Fund.
This AI-powered child development robot "supports the whole child and helps kids unlock critical developmental milestones". Its goal is to allow kids to explore AI safely all the while developing essential social skills.
Moxie claims that "71% of children who used Moxie saw improved social skills as it has been shown to increase positivity, self-esteem, emotion regulation, and empathy", based on a month-long study of 51 children.
At the Amazon booth, we got to ask questions to Moxie, and his facial expression changed to reflect the tone and mood of the conversation.
For instance, when Moxie was listening to the question intently or needing clarification, he was making this serious face.
Or this when somebody from the crowd asked a silly question! Moxie also utilizes age-appropriate filters, so that the conversation your child is having with the AI bot stays kid-friendly and appropriate.
Moxie's goal is to achieve the same experience as having a chat with a real friend, so your child stays entertained and socially engaged. It is currently only available in the United States.
Next, Gyroor's GNU E-Suitcase.
When I saw this cool booth, I had to go and check it out.
Gyroor is an electric bike and scooter brand, but it has launched a new product - GNU E-Suitcase, a unique and fun travel companion for kids. The model shown above is an oversized version of the actual suitcase.
And the booth had these plush E-Suitcase toys as rewards - the perfect launching event.
With luminous wheels and flashing eyes, this suitcase was designed to grab children's attention.
It has a 50kg weight capacity, and your child can ride the suitcase safely by holding the handles at the top.
The GNU E-Suitcase utilizes a lithium iron phosphate battery for stability and safety.
The rear wheels are designed to enhance stability and improve maneuverability.
So cute!
Lastly, KEYi Robot's Loona Smart Petbot.
This is the cutest little thing I've seen!
Loona the petbot was crawling around the showroom floor, and it was already dazzling dozens of people.

Loona the Petbot is equipped with a 3D-ToF (Time of Flight) camera that detects surrounding obstacles to fine-tune its navigation and mobility.

It was interesting observing Loona's behaviors.
It mimics cute gestures and actions of a dog - scratching its face with a leg, for instance, making it easier for us to anthropomorphize it.

Loona is ChatGPT integrated, so it's not going to be the same routine or repetitive recordings barking back at you.

It self-charges, so as long as the charging station is within its reach, you don't have to remember to charge it.

You can unlock so many games that you can play with Loona. Bullfighting, laser light chasing, ball fetching, or hand claps are some of the engaging games that Loona would love to play with you.
Loona would make an incredible pet and companion to children. because you can "adopt" an AI pet without the responsibility that comes with live pet ownership.
I was delighted to see these robots that utilize AI to their advantage with children's safety in mind. Hope to see more of them in the future, improved and revamped.
