Remember from my previous post that I was thinking about upgrading my coffee machine?
Yup, I ended up buying it, and I'm so excited about it.
I heard so many great things about the Moccamaster, and luckily, it was part of Nordstrom's Anniversary sale this year. The funny thing, though, is I ended up purchasing one that wasn't on sale - more on that later.
Unpacking new kitchen appliances has got to be one of my greatest joys in life.
I know it might come as vain, but I just love exploring new things and seeing how they make my life easier.
Apparently, the Moccamaster and the Virtuoso+ grinder make the best coffee combination.
A lot of people have recommended using both for their morning coffee fixes, and I have now joined that club.
I got the stone gray color.
The Moccamaster comes in so many colors!
Currently, there are 18 colors available, and Technivorm releases a handful of limited edition colors.
Everything is securely packaged in this box, and all parts are well-protected with sufficient padding.
The machine requires a "light" installation - but it's intuitive.
The cone-shaped brew basket steeps the coffee grounds for maximum flavor and aroma.
You'll need to get coffee filters for the brew basket.
Technivorm sells matching coffee filters that fit perfectly inside the brew basket.
Brewing a pot of coffee doesn't take too long, either. I would normally press the start button and let my dogs out in the morning.
It's brewing!
A measuring spoon is included, but I honestly didn't really care for this.
It's a cheap-quality, plastic spoon - something you'd get for free when you buy a can of protein powder, you know?
This outlet arm is where all the magic happens.
Water boils from the reservoir, and it moves through the glass tube and pulses over the brew basket, mimicking the manual pour-over coffee-style brewing.
Once you insert the lid for the water reservoir, the machine's all set up and is good to go.
The stone gray color is so sophisticated and chic.
Along with my Virtuoso+ grinder, now I have the perfect coffee brewing tools.
The difference between the one that was included in the Anniversary sale and this was the carafe. The Anniversary sale item included a stainless steel thermal carafe, instead of glass.
I specifically wanted one in glass, so I ultimately bit the bullet and bought the full-price one. From my experience, thermal carafes and coffee don't do well. They get stained almost immediately, and no matter how vigorously I use the "thermos cleaning tablets", the coffee stains don't completely come off.
And since I finish my coffee quickly, a glass carafe with a heated plate from the Moccamaster seemed enough.
Interestingly enough, this glass carafe is not dishwasher safe.
It needs to be hand-washed.
Through this hole in the lid, the freshly brewed coffee will drip down to the carafe.
Beautiful!
Freshly-brewed coffee, anyone?
