My dog goes absolutely crazy for red meats – bison, beef, or lamb. He definitely prefers them over chicken, and he was kind of “meh” about Acana Prairie Poultry, which is mostly chicken flavor, I’ve decided to try the Classic Red, which contains Angus beef, Yorkshire pork, and grass-fed lamb.

Personally, I prefer Acana over Orijen due to the lower protein content of the former. Too much protein tends to make my dog gassy, and my dog has been thriving with Acana, still a high-quality food.
Here is a full list of ingredients and a nutrition analysis breakdown.

I’ve been following the feeding guidelines provided by Acana, and my dog has maintained a perfectly healthy weight and is full of energy.
My dog has a sensitive digestive system, and he does NOT agree well with grains. Whenever I feed him anything that contains corn and grains, he scratches his skin all day long. Some dogs are less sensitive and may not have allergies; however, if your dog has any known sensitivities, I highly suggest feeding dog food without those allergy triggers. In my dog’s case, grain triggers allergic reactions, and for many, it can be poultry. Acana food doesn’t contain grains, and it does not make his skin itch. And of course, it gives him plenty of energy.

He gets so excited whenever I reach for the food and licks the bowl clean, every single time.
