Bibigo Korean Style Crunchy Chicken: The Best Cure for Gloomy Weather

One of my favorite cheat meals is Korean fried chicken. It pairs so well with beer, and there's a Korean word for fried chicken and beer combo, Chimaek. Nothing beats freshly fried chicken in K-town, but when the weather's bad, it's better to stay home and indulge at home.

Bibigo's Korean-style Crunchy Chicken kit is a satisfying alternative to Korean fried chicken, and when prepared according to the cooking instructions, it tastes pretty dang good.

My local Costco has these two flavors - Sweet & Spicy and Soy Garlic. The sauces taste very close to K-town fried chicken sauce, and these kits cost a fraction of what it would cost dining out.

Besides the two flavors, the orange sauce variety is also available. I've never tried it, but I'm guessing it's going to taste like a typical orange chicken you can get in any Chinese restaurant.

The cooking instructions are the same for both flavors.

The Korean-Style Crunchy Chicken kit contains two generous servings of boneless chicken on light batter. Depending on the retailer, the size of the kit varies.

The Costco kit contains 2 large pouches of chicken kits, great for entertaining guests or feeding a large family.

Today, I'm craving something sweet and salty - and the Soy Garlic chicken is going to be exactly that.

I like to cook this chicken in the oven (the toaster oven works fine, too). I emptied the entire bag and evenly placed them on the cooking rack. Make sure to remove the sauce packet.

While the chicken's cooking, I thawed the sauce packets. Warming them up in a bowl of warm water does the trick.

The chicken's done! The chunks of golden brown chicken look scrumptious. Cooked in the oven, the chicken is crispy outside and soft on the inside.

I tossed the chicken in the sauce, and I made myself a delicious dinner entree. I only used half of the sauce, but if you want to savor the flavor, go for the second packet. It will taste just like a soy garlic chicken from a restaurant.

Sprinkle the dish with sesame seeds, and you've got yourself an authentic Korean fried chicken.

This chicken dish makes an amazing entree by itself, but if you're extra hungry, it tastes wonderful over rice.

Or as salad toppers!
