Ah! How I’ve wanted this trash can for so long!
I’m a huge fan of Menu, and I’ve been eyeing this Pedal Bin ever since my husband and I decided we needed an additional trash can. I was so hesitant about pulling the trigger and buying this because it’s really expensive for a trash can. This Pedal Bin is available in 3 sizes, and even the smallest size is WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for a frigging trash can.
Here’s the size/price chart.
And I understand that even the smallest size that only holds 6.8L (that’s a typical size for a bathroom) is way overpriced for a trash can. So naturally, I’ve given a lot of thought before placing an order. I finally talked myself into buying it because I’ll be using a trash can for a decade, and I should love it every time I use it.
The Pedal Bin comes in 2 colors - White and Black. And both colors feature a chrome swing lid and a black step pedal.
I bought the Medium Pedal Bin in White from Design Within Reach.
As soon as I unpacked the box, I immediately noticed just how substantial and heavy this trash can was. Most trash cans are usually lightweight, even high-end cans that are made of full stainless steel (like Simplehuman). It is noticeably heavier than any other trash can I’ve had, and I soon discovered that every dollar I spent was so worth it.
Since the bin is heavy, it rarely shifts around even with vigorous and rough stepping. I’m by no means gentle on my stuff (especially products I use on a daily basis like this trash can), and it doesn’t budge. It stays put just where I placed it. This way, you don’t accidentally damage cabinetry or the wall behind the trash bin. So thoughtful.
The pedal operates smoothly and quietly.
The lid closes closely, so it doesn’t make any noise, either.
The body is a beautiful polished white that goes particularly great with modern decor.
Menu’s logo can be found on the back of the bin.
There is an inner bucket, which is going to be where all trash is going to be “housed” with trash liners.
Menu, unfortunately, does not sell its corresponding trash liners; however, I found perfectly compatible trash liners from Simplehuman. Just make sure to check the capacity of any trash liner you’re considering, and it will fit.
It looks SO PRETTY in my laundry room. I throw away various laundry-related trash like lint from the dryer, wet paper towels, or used dryer sheets, and this medium-sized bin is the perfect size.
I loved it so much that I bought another one for our master bathroom, Whaaa!
You’ll love this investment. And this trash can will last decades.
