I like how there are so many cool kitchen tools these days. I get carried away whenever I shop at stores like Bed Bath & Beyond or Crate and Barrel when I "reluctantly" follow my wife. And when I saw this apple slicer, I knew I would use it daily. My wife and I eat apples every day.

This cool kitchen tool aptly slices the apple into 16 bite-size pieces.
I’ve seen many apple corers or slicers that cut the apple in 8 pieces, but I like the 16 slicers better. With the 8-piece slicer I’ve previously used, slicing a weirdly-shaped apple was extremely difficult, and it wouldn’t cut the core straight. The 16-piece slicer is easier to aim the angle and more accurately de-core the apple and slice.

The blades cut through apples easily with some pressure.

The slicer has an attached cover, and it effectively pushes the sliced pieces out of the blade and into the bowl. The pieces usually get stuck on the blade, making it difficult and dangerous to remove them by hand. Instead, I can simply push the base cover, and the apple slices get dumped into the plate/bowl. Ingenious!

The only thing that got me worried was its functionality. I’ve seen many kitchen tools with plastic parts fail miserably, and I was understandably worried that this wouldn’t slice the apples. Fortunately, I was not disappointed.

The tool is dishwasher safe (I suggest washing it in the top-rack), so I simply toss it in the dishwasher to get the blades cleaned.

Such a convenient tool.
